PPG reports fourth quarter and full-year 2016 financial results
PPG today reported fourth quarter 2016 net sales of $3.5 billion, down more than 1 percent versus the prior year. Sales in local currencies increased by more than 1 percent aided by sales volume growth approaching 2 percent year-over-year. The net impact from business portfolio actions contributed less than 1 percent to sales growth as acquisition-related sales increases modestly exceeded the absence of sales from the divested European fiber glass business. These aggregate net sales gains were more than offset by unfavorable foreign currency translation that reduced net sales by about 3 percent, or approximately $100 million.
PPG coatings create showpiece finish for Carrington livery
When Carrington Holding Co. took delivery of its first Bombardier* Global Express XRS* business jet, company officials said they were impressed with the aircraft from the interior to its custom paint job. PPG aerospace coatings in metallic blue, metallic titanium and Las Vegas Gold dazzle beneath the white fuselage, engine cowling and vertical stabilizer that are accented by a special-effect paint appropriately named Carrington Pearl Blue.
PPG eco-friendly wash primer coatings system chosen by LOT Polish Airlines
LOT Polish Airlines (Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT) has chosen a new chrome-free aerospace primer coatings system by PPG for corrosion resistance because it is eco-friendly and a preferred PPG topcoat for superior gloss and shine to repaint three Embraer E175 jets and a 737-400 airplane.
PPG coatings systems selected by Airbus for A350-1000 launch aircraft
One of three Airbus A350-1000 flight-test aircraft has been painted in the Airbus livery with a selectively strippable system by PPG that shortens repaint cycle time using DESOTHANE® HD 9008 basecoat-clearcoat for high-intensity, long-lasting color. A PPG low-density fuel tank and fuselage sealant provides the three flight-test aircraft with weight savings compared with traditional sealants and will be used on production A350-1000 airplanes to benefit operators.
PPG earns R&D 100 Awards for automotive, aerospace electrocoat technologies
PPG today announced that two of its electrocoat (e-coat) technologies have earned 2016 R&D 100 Awards in the mechanical/materials category. ENVIRO-PRIME® EPIC automotive electrocoat (e-coat) featuring a patented organic catalyst and AEROCRON™ 2100 aerospace electrocoat primer are among the 100 most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace over the past year, according to judges for the 54th annual awards.
PPG extends warranty on rebuilt windshields for Beechcraft 1900, King Air planes
PPG has announced it is offering a longer three-year warranty on rebuilt windshields for Beechcraft 1900 and Beechcraft King Air airplanes that are demonstrating excellent field performance for operators. The three-year warranty applies to PPG-rebuilt windshields purchased on or after June 1, 2016.
PPG shows color, textured options for aerospace transparency plastic at NBAA

PPG donating military coatings, window for EC-135C aircraft restoration
PPG has donated a boom operator compartment side window and will donate military aircraft coatings to the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate in Ashland, Nebraska, for restoration of an EC-135C aircraft that was one of the last to fly as the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command’s “Looking Glass.”

PPG today announced two executive appointments. Jane Valenta will become vice president technical, global architectural coatings, and Mark Cancilla will replace Valenta as vice president, environment, health and safety (EHS).

PPG today reported third quarter 2016 net sales of $3.8 billion, up almost 2 percent versus the prior-year figure of $3.7 billion. Sales volumes grew 1.6 percent and acquisition-related sales contributed more than 2 percent, partly offset by a slight decline in selling prices. Unfavorable foreign currency translation impacted net sales by nearly 2 percent, or about $65 million.
