PPG receives Parts Manufacturer Approval for BEECHJET 400 jet windshield
PPG has received Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration for its aftermarket glass-faced acrylic windshields for BEECHJET® 400 business jets and their variants. The PPG windshields have been selected by Nextant Aerospace for NEXTANT 400XTI® remanufactured business jets, and they are available for direct sale to owners of Beechjet 400 jets and variants.

PPG receives EASA approval for windshield for HAWKER 800 series aircraft
PPG has received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its new-design glass-faced acrylic windshields for HAWKER® 800 series business jets, including the Hawker 750, 800, 800XP, 800 (U-125A), 850XP, 900XP and 1000 aircraft. With approval under an EASA Supplemental Type Certificate, PPG has begun selling the windshields directly to aircraft owners and operators in Europe.

PPG has named Mark Hood plant manager of its Sylmar, California, aerospace transparencies facility and Steve Kight to succeed him as global market director for general aviation transparencies.

PPG today announced that it has named Sam Millikin global platform business director for aerospace sealants and packaging and a member of PPG’s aerospace business leadership team. Millikin succeeds John Sands, who retired after a 32-year career.

PPG introduces heavy-duty, high volume mixers for high viscosity chemicals
PPG has expanded its SEMCO® high volume automated mixer line with two new heavy-duty mixers for precision mixing of higher viscosity, multicomponent adhesives, sealants and other chemicals in SEMKIT® packages. The Semco model 1088HD mixer and Semco 1188HD mixer are equipped with robust motors to thoroughly mix high viscosity aerospace adhesives, while the Semco 1188HD mixer has added capability for use in potentially volatile and corrosive environments, like those encountered by aircraft carrier maintenance operations.

PPG video describes benefits of aerospace sealant caps for fuel tank fasteners
A new video by PPG describes the quality, time-saving and waste-reducing benefits of dome-sealing aircraft fuel tank fasteners with PRC® seal caps instead of extruded wet sealant. The PPG seal caps are formed and molded from PRC or PRO-SEAL™ aerospace sealant, and then cured to form a flexible rubber shell. The caps can also be supplied prefilled by PPG with the same sealant so they arrive at the customer’s site ready to dome-seal fasteners, eliminating all sealant mixing and tooling.

PPG chrome-free aerospace sealants receive NATO Stock Numbers by UK MoD
Chrome-free aerospace sealants by PPG have received NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) by the U.K. Ministry of Defence as a standardized supply material that simplifies ordering. Military personnel can now order PR-1425CF chrome-free polysulfide windshield and canopy sealant and PR-2870 non-chrome corrosion-inhibitive (NCCI) sealant by NSN (National Stock Numbers in the U.S.) without issuing new purchasing requests.

PPG launches innovative aerospace sealant injection tool for channel seals
PPG has launched an innovative high-pressure aerospace sealant injection tool that addresses the unique application requirements of channel sealing aircraft wings for prevention of fuel leaks during flight. The SEMCO® 1010 HP high-pressure injection tool has a pressure limiting mechanism, and it is certified for use in potentially volatile environments.
