Airbus - A300 / A310 / A330 / A340

PPG Aerospace - Transparencies is the leading and most experienced source for original equipment and replacement windows for Airbus airplanes. Operators of Airbus airplanes know that PPG transparencies have outstanding service life, as demonstrated by PPG in-service reliability studies.

The full range of services offered by PPG Aerospace permits airlines to design a program meeting their maintenance and operational parameters.

New Program: Convenience and Timing

Operators can buy new replacement windshields and side cockpit windows from PPG and enjoy the convenience and time savings of buying directly from a single source for their entire Airbus widebody fleet. PPG provides the latest engineering version to operators so that they are flying the most reliable cockpit windows. New windows are stocked in our worldwide depots, permitting PPG to service a replacement requirement from any of our depots. Convenience and timing - when these are your critical requirements, PPG can meet your needs.

Rebuild/Exchange Program Under Customized Agreement: Flexible and Savings

PPG's rebuild/exchange program provides optimum flexibility when delivery timing is important while affording operators cost savings over new parts. Operators return a cockpit main windshield to PPG and receive a replacement from PPG stock, affording the most efficient turn times. The exchange window is shipped within 1 week of receipt of the unserviceable window. Flexibility and savings - when these are your critical requirements, PPG can meet your needs. Contact PPG to discuss the details and part applicability.

Repair Program: Cost Savings

PPG's repair program provides optimum cost savings when cost savings are the main requirement. Repairs can include scratch removal, hump seal repair, outer ply replacement, and gasket remolding. PPG's repair program is customer driven. We work closely with our customers to offer repairs that meet their demanding needs.

The all glass design for the Airbus A300/A310/A330/A340 features chemically strengthened glass, advanced urethane technology, and ant-ice/anti-fog coatings.  The all glass design is based on Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass developed by PPG.  Herculite® II is extensively used in commercial, regional, and general aviation aircraft.  Herculite® II offers exceptional strength, excellent optical characteristics, and high strength to weight ratio compared to thermally tempered glass.

It is used in transparency systems where designs require high strength to weight ratio, high performance, and long service life.  Additionally, it offers greater damage tolerance and scratch resistance as a result of its high surface hardness.  The unique properties of Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass allow lightweight cockpit windows to be designed for structural, load bearing applications.  For these applications, aircraft loads are transferred through the cockpit window, thus allowing for reduced weight in the fuselage structure.

Since its introduction, Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass has been field proven in all cockpit window applications for both structural and nonstructural applications.  Herculite® II is used on other commercial aircraft, including the Airbus A318, A319, A320, and A321.
