Embraer E170/E175/E190/E195

PPG Aerospace is a leading and experienced manufacturer of original-equipment and replacement windshields and side cockpit windows for Embraer airplanes. PPG Aerospace has been the single source of cockpit windows to Embraer and worldwide operators of the Embraer E170/E175/E190/E195 regional jet fleet since the first aircraft was delivered.

PPG's continuous improvement of the windshields has provided the industry with transparencies that are among the longest performing and most reliable. The all glass design for the windshields features chemically strengthened glass, advanced urethane technology, and ant-ice/anti-fog coatings.  The all glass design is based on Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass developed by PPG. The outstanding properties of Herculite® II allow designers to meet the challenging operating envelope for Embraer E170/E175/E190/E195 aircraft.

Herculite® II is used in transparency systems where designs require high strength to weight ratio, high performance, and long service life.  Additionally, it offers greater damage tolerance and scratch resistance as a result of its high surface hardness.  The unique properties of Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass allow lightweight cockpit windows to be designed for structural, load bearing applications.  For these applications, aircraft loads are transferred through the cockpit window, thus allowing for reduced weight in the fuselage structure.

Since its introduction, Herculite® II chemically strengthened glass has been field proven in all cockpit window applications for both structural and nonstructural applications.  Herculite® II is used on other commercial, general aviation, and regional aircraft such as the ERJ 135/140/145.

SURFACE SEAL® Coating by PPG Surface Seal hydrophobic coating is available for  application to PPG windshields for the Embraer  E170/E175/E190/E195 fleet. Surface Seal hydrophobic  coating improves the ability of glass-faced windshields  to shed water, providing the ultimate in visibility for pilots  during wet conditions.

When ordering your spare windshields from PPG, ask for Surface Seal coating. The parts can be coated by the PPG professionals at the factory before they ship, or the coating can be field applied to windshields on in-service aircraft with Surface Seal coating system kits. Ask your PPG representa-tive for details.

Operators know they can count on PPG Aerospace  for transparencies that provide significant value because of their reduced life-cycle cost as a result of their exceptional service life.

In addition to supplying transparencies with demonstrated performance and reliability, PPG Aerospace helps operators lower their transparency maintenance costs and increase their on-aircraft performance through enhanced maintenance and Optimal Replacement Age programs. These custom-designed programs enable operators to maximize the value of PPG cockpit windows.

PPG Aerospace worldwide depots strategically located to provide global aftermarket and AOG support.
