SYLMAR, Calif., Oct. 9, 2017 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced it has received Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration for its aftermarket glass-faced acrylic windshields for BEECHJET® 400 business jets and their variants. The PPG windshields have been selected by Nextant Aerospace for NEXTANT 400XTI® remanufactured business jets, and they are available for direct sale to owners of Beechjet 400 jets and variants.

PPG’s new glass-faced acrylic windshields offer ease of installation and exceptional resistance to moisture ingress that can affect service life, according to Steve Kight, PPG market director, general aviation transparencies.

“These PPG windshields incorporate a moisture, or weather, seal that is used with pre-molded pressure seals on the edge attachment to eliminate the need for additional sealant application during installation,” Kight said. “A PPG-produced interlayer and the weather seal afford enhanced resistance to moisture ingress that can cause interlayer degradation and hazing.”

The windshields have an outboard ply of chemically strengthened glass with two stretched-acrylic plies. They feature a new PPG AIRCON® anti-ice heating system that offers superior optics during operation. PPG SURFACE SEAL® hydrophobic coating helps shed water for better pilot visibility during wet conditions without the need for wipers.
