PPG Industries’ aerospace transparencies group has delivered windshields and side flight-deck windows for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) to Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MITAC) for flight testing.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 16, 2015 – PPG Industries’ (NYSE:PPG) aerospace transparencies group has delivered windshields and side flight-deck windows for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) to Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (MITAC) for flight testing.

Ship sets of parts produced by PPG at its Huntsville, Alabama, manufacturing facility already supplied to MITAC have passed bird-impact and static testing, according to Arthur Scott, PPG Aerospace global director for commercial transparencies. The heated glass windshield and side window designs passed testing to resist impact by a 4-pound bird at 300 knots.

PPG is under contract to design and manufacture the windshields and side windows, among the largest in commercial aviation, for the life of the program and support operators with aftermarket parts. Manufacturing of production parts is expected to begin this summer.
